A Modified Shape Model Incorporating Continuous Accumulated Growing Degree Days for Phenology Detection of Early Rice

چکیده

Using a shape model (SM) is typical method to determine the phenological phases of crops with long-time-series satellite remote sensing data. The average AGDD-based (AAGDD-SM) takes temperature into account compared SM, however, commonly used daily not sufficient exact AGDD owing possibly significant changes in temperatures throughout day. In this paper, modified was proposed for better estimation dates and it incorporated continuous (CAGDD) which calculated based on from 24 h within day, different calendar day or indicators. study, CAGDD replaced abscissa NDVI growth curve over 5-year period (2014 2018, excluding 2015) test site early rice Jiangxi province China. Four key phases, including reviving, tillering, heading anthesis were selected determined reference field-observed results show that AAGDD-SM, paper has basically improved prediction each period. For those cases where lower than minimum (K1) but effective accumulated zero, more accurate can be according paper.

Can Growing Degree Days and Photoperiod Predict Spring Wheat Phenology?

Wheat (Triticum aestivum) production in the rainfed area of Pothwar Pakistan is extremely vulnerable to high temperature. The expected increase in temperature due to global warming should result in shorter crop life cycles, and thus lower biomass and grain yield. Two major factors control wheat phenological development: temperature and photoperiod. To evaluate wheat development in response to t...

Do growing degree days predict phenology across butterfly species?

Global climate change is causing shifts in phenology across multiple species. We use a geographically and temporally extensive data set of butterfly abundance across the state of Ohio to ask whether phenological change can be predicted from climatological data. Our focus is on growing degree days (GDD), a commonly used measure of thermal accumulation, as the mechanistic link between climate cha...

Determining suitable time for exploitation/ grazing of rangeland plants using growing degree days (GDD) model

One of the key principles in rangeland management is determination of suitable times for exploitation and grazing of rangeland plants in summer and winter pasturelands. This determination of time not only prevents degradation of plant species, but also leads to optimal usage of plant yield. Multiple factors affect plant phenology among which temperature regime has the highest effect on plant de...

GIS-based analysis of spatial distribution patterns of growing degree-days for agricultural applications in Iran

The geographical distribution of growing degree-days (GDDs) within Iran was studied using GIS-based maps. GDDs were calculated using daily thermal parameters (daily maximum and minimum air temperature). Based on the purpose of the study and climatic conditions of Iran, the average value of 5?C was chosen for GDD calculation. The calculations were carried out using daily weather data of 113 mete...

Required Growing Degree-Days (GDDs) for each Phenological Stage of Fritillaria imperialis

Studying plant phenology is very important to regulate the rangeland utilization. Plant phenology can be determined by Growing Degree Days (GDDs). Since temperature varies yearly, the phenological stages may consequently differ yearly. Determining the base temperature is one of the key steps in the calculation of GDDs. The aim of this study was to calculate the required GDDs for each phenologic...
